James' Tip of the Week Uphill/Downhill Lie The first thing to do is assess the severity of the slope - downhill will go low and tend to veer to the right (if you're right-handed) so take more loft. Uphill will go high and tend to veer to the left (if you're right-handed) so aim right. To ensure a solid contact, a simple rule applies. Play the ball towards the high foot and the weight is positioned towards the low foot (the same rule applies for uphill and downhill). Next time: ball below the feet and ball above the feet!
Kevin’s Teaching Corner Christmas is around the corner. If you are searching for the perfect gift for yourself or someone special, golf lessons might just be that gift. We all know how frustrating it is to shoot the same score or see the same misses that result in poor scoring. The first step toward fixing it is understanding why it happens. There is no better gift than the one of understanding. All it takes is a one-hour assessment lesson to create a basic understanding of one’s own swing. With the discounts for the holiday, there is no time like the present to provide that gift. If you want to be more generous this holiday season, we have terrific pricing in both 5-hour and 10-hour programs. With the gift of understanding will also come a detailed game plan and execution to make the steps necessary to play better golf and get more enjoyment out of the game. Vouchers and gift certificates are available for purchase in any amount and can be emailed or put in a card to show someone you care. If you are interested in gift certificates or vouchers, be sure to e-mail or call me using the information below. Take advantage of this holiday pricing in our 10-hour and 5-hour programs before they disappear. My Contact Info: Phone #: 07761778590 Email: lawrencepgapro@gmail.com

Steve Wilkinson "Hi fellow members, I was rather flattered to be asked by Lisa re doing a player profile, so I hope this keeps your attention…im 57 and live in Sale, I am a Manager working for the NHS in Property services. I got into the sport from an early age and I used to caddy during the summer holidays mainly at Dunham Forest for a great character called Archie Preston. Football was my number one sport, playing Mid Cheshire and locally then making history as a Manager with an amazing group of footballers for 17 years. Mike Serrage and Tony Taylor encouraged me to join Didsbury when John Chapman was Captain around 2004. I've been a member twice having had a leave of absence to have my right hip resurfaced and my left hip replaced owing to osteoarthritis, I've kept pretty steady off a handicap between 10-12, but am determined to get to single figures now that I’m bionic! |

Everyone says it and it's true that the “craic” and the course are what keeps a lot of us at Didders, it's certainly not our challenging Ford Lane! My best round ever was also my biggest win, Capt Day 2006, shooting a net 63 to win, I had to go home in a borrowed car to get my suit and tie I was that ill-prepared. There’s a lot of hard work and toil going on to make the club better, James, Lisa and their team have done a solid job with the shop and lessons and I think the emails are superb and formative. Covid has impacted us all in many ways and there’s uncertainty re HSL and what our course will look like in the future. However, we have a loyal core of members and a widespread of newish members that by all pulling in the same direction can have a big impact on the future golf of our club. I've joined the committee to help make a small difference and encourage all ideas to be put forward. Happy golfing to all."

Removing Loose Impediments and Movable Obstructions Before playing your ball in a bunker, you may remove loose impediments and movable obstructions. Restrictions on Touching Sand in Bunker
Before making a stroke at your ball in a bunker, you must not:
- Deliberately touch sand in the bunker with your hand, a club or rake or any other object to test the condition of the sand and learn information for your next stroke, or
- Touch sand in the bunker with your club
- In the area right in front of or right behind your ball (except as allowed in fairly searching for your ball or in removing a loose impediment or movable obstruction),
- In making a practice swing, or
- In making your backswing for a stroke.
Except as covered in the two bullets above, the following actions are allowed: - Digging in with your feet to take a stance for a practice swing or the stroke,
- Smoothing the bunker to care for the course,
- Placing your clubs, equipment or other objects in the bunker (whether by throwing or setting them down),
- Measuring, marking, lifting, replacing or taking other actions under a Rule,
- Leaning on a club to rest, stay balanced or prevent a fall, or
- Striking the sand in frustration or anger.
But you get the general penalty if your actions in touching the sand improve the conditions affecting your stroke. Watch this video here for more information!

There’s no place like home, right? That was certainly the case for Christiaan Bezuidenhout as the South African went back-to-back on home soil, winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship and South African Open for his second and third European Tour titles. Having struggled on Sunday’s front-nine, Bezuidenhout looked in danger of blowing a five-stroke lead over veteran Jamie Donaldson. However, he found comfort in the arms of his irons down the stretch: Finding greens and attacking pins when it mattered most. This isn’t just important for a European Tour player. Whether you’re looking for the sanctuary of the green or trying to knock it close, good iron-play is critical. So, why not click the button below to book some lessons with us now?
